Membership Information                                                        Bullet Pledge

Eligibility and Nomination:

Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) No more than 15% of the senior class can be members; (1). Juniors (at least 60 semester hours completed) or seniors (at least 90 semester hours completed) who have been in residence at least one academic year before election and have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better for all university work (out of a possible 4.0); (2). Rank in the upper 5% of the junior class if juniors or in the upper 15% of the senior class if seniors; (3). Have been nominated on the prescribed form and endorsed by two Gamma Sigma Delta members (at least one a faculty member) who regard the nominee as having personal qualities, including leadership ability, that give evidence of a successful career in agriculture or associated sciences.

Invitations to join are issued to eligible students prior to the Fall Awards and Initiation Banquet or the Spring Initiation and Awards Reception.

Veterinary Medicine Students

Students of the College of Veterinary Medicine who meet all of the following requirements: (1). Have been in residence in the College of Veterinary Medicine at The University of Tennessee for at least one academic year; (2). Have completed two years of academic requirements with a 3.50 average or better in the College of Veterinary Medicine and be in the upper 15 percent of the respective class; and (3). Have been nominated on the prescribed form and endorsed by two Gamma Sigma Delta members (at least one a faculty member) who regard the nominee as having personal qualities, including leadership ability, that give evidence of making worthwhile contributions in this field.

Invitations to join are issued to eligible students prior to the Fall Awards and Initiation Banquet or the Spring Initiation and Awards Reception.

Graduate Students

Students of the Graduate School who meet all of the following requirements: (1). Have completed at least 12 semester hours of the required graduate course work (excluding thesis or dissertation credits) and attained a 3.50 average or better for graduate credit at The University of Tennessee applicable to the advanced degree being sought; and (2). Have been nominated on the prescribed form and endorsed by two Gamma Sigma Delta members (at least one a faculty member) who regard the nominee as having personal qualities, including leadership ability, that give evidence of making worthwhile
contributions in their field and as having demonstrated ability to conduct research and/or advanced study in agriculture or related sciences.

Faculty, Instructors, and Research Associates

Faculty, instructors, and research associates in the Institute of Agriculture who are engaged in administration, extension, research, or teaching, or in sciences related to agriculture, and have been nominated on the prescribed form and endorsed by two Gamma Sigma Delta members (at least one a faculty member) who regard the nominee as having personal qualities, including leadership ability, that give evidence of making worthwhile contributions in their field.

Please submit nominations for new faculty and staff members to the chapter secretary prior to the fall or winter business meetings.

Alumni

Alumni of the Colleges of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources or Veterinary Medicine of this institution, or graduates of other institutions that offer comparable degrees, and have rendered signal service to the cause of agriculture and related sciences.

Please submit nominations for alumni members to the chapter secretary prior to the fall or winter business meetings.

Honorary

Honorary membership may be awarded to an individual not qualified for the above categories but who has furthered agriculture. Such membership is a prestigious award, limited to one such award per year.
