Continuing the partnership, on April 22, 2024, The Tennessee Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta with One Health and the Tennessee River Line cleaned-up Third Creek located near campus in kayaks. Our group collected so many bags of trash that couldn’t fit in a pickup truck.
This event was enjoyed by 15 Gamma Sigma Delta members and was arranged by Dr. Bruno Pedreira, the chapter Service Coordinator. They celebrated “Earth Day” with fellowship and adventures kayaking, some for the first time.
Why is this excursion so important? These local waterways are home to more forms of life than any other river system in North America. More than 100 species of freshwater mussels and 270 species of fish are found here, including some not found anywhere else in the world!
As one of the pillars of Gamma Sigma Delta, taking care of our campus and the surrounding community helps to fulfill the service part of our mission with Gamma Sigma Delta, the Agricultural Honors Society.
