On November 6, 2024, The University of Tennessee, Herbert College of Agriculture and College of Veterinary Medicine juniors, seniors, and graduate students, 37, were initiated to membership in Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society for agriculture. New members demonstrated excellence scholastically and for having personal qualities, including leadership ability, that give promise for a successful career in agriculture or associated sciences. An additional 3 Faculty and Staff were initiated based on their outstanding contributions in teaching, research, Extension, or administration.

Awards were presented to deserving individuals that strive to make outstanding contributions to agriculture.

  • The Alumni Award recognizes an alumnus of the Institute of Agriculture who has made an outstanding contribution, either directly or indirectly, to agriculture and related disciplines. Presented to Carol Coley McDonald.
  • The Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award recognizes a resident of Tennessee who has made an outstanding contribution, either directly or indirectly, to agriculture and related disciplines. Presented to Dwight Loveday.
  • The Research Award recognizes a member of the faculty and staff of the Institute of Agriculture who has made an outstanding research contribution to agriculture and related disciplines. Presented to Sarah Moorey.
  • The Extension Award recognizes an extension faculty or staff member who has made an outstanding extension contribution to agriculture and related disciplines. Presented to Mitchell Richmond.
  • Teaching Award is presented to an outstanding teacher in the Herbert College of Agriculture or the College of Veterinary Medicine. Presented to Amanda Spangler.
  • The Team Award is presented to two or more faculty/staff members who have made an outstanding contribution to research, teaching, and/or extension related to agriculture and related disciplines. Presented to: Liz Eckelkamp, Aaron Fisher, Jennie Ivey, Sawyer Main, Katie Mason, Bruno Pedreira, Troy Rowan, Jessy Shanks, Lew Strickland, Tom Tabler, and Saulo Zoca.
